Indiana Jones: My Thoughts

After seeing the latest Indiana Jones film, I have to say this: I enjoyed it, Cate Blanchett did a fine job as the villain, Harrison Ford fit well into the Indy character again, and Shia Lebouf is a good side-kick to Ford (Though I don’t think he can carry his own movie). Here are my problems: Marion was brought in, like two thirds through, and barely did anything that really mattered; she was more in it so the fans could cheer when she beat up a bad guy or something, Ray Winstone didn’t get to do much besides be the guy that turns on Indy again and again, the idea of surviving a nuclear blast in a lead coated refrigerator is quite stupid….and the aliens. Why have Indy meet aliens? I mean, I know they had to have a fantastic ‘omigod’ discovery here, but aliens is taking it a bit too far. Why not the fountain of youth, or some kind of apocalyptic artifact? It was an interesting concept, but the idea that worshipping God (and gods) came from aliens doesn’t fit with the concept of the holy grail, does it? There were major plot holes.

Those were just some opinions on the film. I liked it, but if I had to choose I’d probably go see Iron Man again instead. Anyone else think so?

  1. I agree that Marion was a wasted character in the movie. I didn’t really care for Kate Blanchett in this film. She’s a great actress and she was turned into a parody of a villain in this latest Indy installment.

Ford still is great with a whip and leather jacket. Go Indy!

Aliens. Yes. Not my first choice. And, not my second, either. Yikes. Lucas needs to let someone else do the driving.
